Bryan Mbeumo was well on his way to Manchester United. Then mentor and Brentford coach Thomas Frank signed with Tottenham, and the London club threw themselves into the race for the powerful right winger with an impressive 20 Premier League goals last season. Now it is reported that Tottenham have withdrawn.

Spurs tried to use Thomas Frank to persuade Mbeumo to turn down United, but now it is claimed that Tottenham realise the battle is lost.

According to Transfer Insider’s Valentin Furlan, Spurs have withdrawn:
“Spurs are OUT of the Bryan Mbeumo game, sources tell me and @RudyGaletti. As reported – the player has given his word to Manchester United.”

Negotiations with Brentford are also progressing, it is reported:

“Positive signs in the last meeting between Manchester United and Brentford about Bryan Mbeumo, according to me and @RudyGaletti. Personal terms are agreed, the parties are now working on the fixed transfer fee. As reported – Mbeumo just wants to go to United.”
