Bayern Munich have been officially crowned Bundesliga champions for the 2024/25 season, and Harry Kane has finally secured his first major trophy in a special moment for the England national team captain.

Kane announced a move from Tottenham Hotspur to Bayern in the summer of 2023, but the 2023/24 season was a disappointment for the Munich giants. They finished third in the Bundesliga, were losing finalists in the DFL-Supercup and only reached the semi-finals of the Champions League.

Championship celebration postponed

Bayern’s championship celebration was delayed on Saturday when Yussuf Poulsen scored in the extra time minutes for RB Leipzig to secure a 3-3 draw at the Red Bull Arena.

Bayer Leverkusen had to defeat Freiburg on Sunday afternoon to keep the championship race alive, but Xabi Alonso’s side only managed to draw 2-2. This result now confirmed that Vincent Kompany’s team is crowned champions.

Bayern are at the top with 76 points, while Leverkusen have 68 points. Even if Leverkusen were to win their last two games, they could reach a maximum of 74 points – too little to challenge Bayern.

Dominant Season

Bayern have an impressive record this season:

  • 23 wins, 7 draws and only 2 losses in 32 games
  • 93 goals scored and only 32 conceded
  • Proven to be the Bundesliga’s best team in 2024/25

The Allianz Arena will surely be in a festive mood when the team returns to play Borussia Mönchengladbach on May 10, before they finish the season away to Hoffenheim on May 17.

Leverkusen’s challenges

It was always a difficult task for Leverkusen to secure their second straight Bundesliga championship. Questions will now be raised about Alonso’s future, with rumours that Real Madrid are determined to hire him as their new head coach.

Alonso has already insisted that he will not discuss his future until the end of the season. A second place would still be considered a strong season for Leverkusen, who scored two late goals against Freiburg to secure a draw.

Final trophy for Kane

Kane has had to show patience, but the 31-year-old now finally has his first major career title – and he certainly deserves it.

With Tottenham:

  • League Cup final defeat twice
  • Losing finalist in the 2018/19 Champions League

With England:

  • Silver in Euro 2020 and Euro 2024

Now Kane finally has some serious silver in his cupboard, and he will surely be aiming for more titles next season.

Outstanding Achievements

Kane has had a fantastic season:

  • 36 goals and 12 assists in 44 games for Bayern
  • Proving that he is still among the world’s best attacking players

Since arriving at the Allianz Arena, the English striker has:

  • 80 goals and 24 assists in 80 games
  • Two years remain on the contract
  • Rumoured not to return to the Premier League this summer

This is a historic milestone for Kane, who has finally broken the trophy curse and written himself into Bayern Munich’s history.
