It wasn’t just Heung-Min Son who had to tear up when he told Spurs supporters at a press conference on Saturday that he was giving up the Tottenham shirt. 454 games, an impressive 173 goals, as the 5th highest scorer in Tottenham’s history. Now it’s over.

Those who have followed Tottenham over the past decade have seen Harry Kane and Son develop as one of the fiercest attacking duos in the Premier League. Then Kan disappeared, Son took over the lead. When the Premier League kicks off in two weeks’ time, it will be without both. Harry Kane left Spurs with a heavy heart, Son does the same.

-Before we start the press conference, I would like to say that I have decided to leave the club this summer. The club has supported me in this decision. It’s the hardest decision I’ve made in my career. I have so many good memories from here. It has been incredibly difficult to make that decision,” Son begins at the press conference.

“I need a new environment to challenge myself. I need a little change. 10 years is a long time. I came to North London as a young boy of 23 and I leave the club as a grown man – a very proud man,” the South Korean international continues.

“I want to thank all the Spurs fans for all the love they have given me. I hope the farewell comes at the right time, and that it is the right time to make that decision. I hope everyone can accept and respect that,” the Spurs legend said.

This is a player we will really miss in the Premier League.
