The Nottingham Forest owner had grown tired of steering towards relegation and not a rise from last season’s 7th place in the Premier League. Scapegoats must be identified, on the fourth coach of the season there has still been no rescue. Now the former genius sporting director at Arsenal must also take his cap and go.

According to The Athletic, Edu missed the club’s last three games, with Forest management reportedly informing the director to stay away from both the training facility and the stadium pending dismissal. According to transfer journalist Roman and several English media, Edu has now been fired.

This summer, Nottingham Forest hired Edu Gaspar as global director of football. A pompous title that was supposed to signal the ambitions of Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis. Edu had teamed up with Mikel Arteta to build Arsenal into Premier League title contenders, now the Brazilian was going to pour out his experience and use his network for Nottingham Forest. Eight months later, he is thus unwanted at the City Ground.

Edu took over as sporting director with Nottingham Forest in a strong seventh place in the Premier League (with a Europa League ticket). The expectations for this season were not surprising further climbing. Four different coaches later, player signing who has not delivered and relegation battle, Gaspar is finished.
