Manchester United supporters went into Old Trafford with a good feeling on Sunday. Fulham were defeated away from home, winning the Europa League on Thursday. Oliver Glasner and the Palace players had decided to ruin the good atmosphere in the red part of Manchester.
A
0-2 win for Crystal Palace was a cold winter shower for United supporters. The London club thus overtook the Red Devils in the Premier League table. In the negotiation room, work is being done in parallel to get the signing of the left-back who was previously on United’s list of candidates.
Glasner has pointed out the left-back position that needs to be strengthened.
“One day left (of the transfer window, ed.), we’ll see what happens, but I think there will be at least one player. I expect at least one more trade in a position where we only have one player playing with his strong leg,” the Palace manager said after the game.
Tyrick Mitchell is the only left-footed left-back, now Palace are closely linked with Chelsea’s Ben Chilwell. In the summer/autumn, the left-back was heavily linked with Manchester United, who desperately needed reinforcements in the position with Shaw and Malacia still struggling with injuries.
Now Crystal Palace are on the offensive, both on the pitch and in the negotiating room.
