Newcastle finished last season loaded with confidence. Back in the Champions League, a historic FA Cup trophy in the trophy cabinet at St. James’ Park. In recent weeks, the turmoil has spread, the club’s top scorer is well on his way away from the club, three weeks before the start of the season. Attempts to secure a replacement have so far been halted. Now the club is fighting with equally desperate Manchester United for a pure striker.

After Newcastle were shaken by the news that star striker Isak wants to leave the club this summer, Yoane Wissa and Benjamin Sesko have been added to the shortlist for a new big striker.
Wissa made 19 Premier League appearances last season, but a move seems uncertain, as Brentford have so far refused to sell the Congolese international. Then Newcastle are left with RB Leipzig’s Sesko. The challenge here is that Manchester United, who were cheated of Viktor Gyökeres (chose Arsenal over reunion with Amorim), have also set their sights on Sesko.
According to transfer journalist Romano, both Newcastle and United have contacted Sesko’s camp to discuss the terms of a potential contract. German journalist Florian Plettenberg reports both clubs have “presented their project” to the Slovenian striker. Now it will be up to Sesko to make the choice. When the 22-year-old gives his thumbs up, it is expected that bids of up to 80 million euros for RB Leipzig will be made shortly.
