When Newcastle’s new owners in 2021 went out and secured the coach who would manage the sporting assets of “the world’s potentially richest club”, it was immediately pointed to a high-profile coach such as Mourinho, Conte and Zidane. The choice surprisingly fell on Eddie Howe, with a background from equally rooted English Bournemouth and Burnley. It turned out to be an ingenious choice. Now the 48-year-old is rock solid as Newcastle manager, this is not a coach who throws himself into new job offers.

Eddie Howe has been linked with the biggest clubs in the Premier League several times, and now he has become one again. First it was Enzo Maresca at Chelsea, then it was Ruben Amorim at Manchester United. Both times, Howe has been thrown into the pool of possible candidates for the two jobs.

Manchester United management can still save themselves the trouble of calling Mr. Howe. When asked if he is interested in the job, he gets a quick and straightforward answer.

“No, not at this time. As I said, the most important thing for me is joy in the role, joy in the job and the relationships I have with the people around me. It hasn’t always been consistently good,” Howe begins, according to The Athletic.

“Things can change at any football club. But right now I’m very happy. I think we’ve made some good hires in the key positions we were going to fill, and as I’ve said, as long as I can express myself in the best possible way, and I’m the best version of myself to help the players and the club.”
