29-year-old Carlos Fernandes will be an assistant coach – just like he was at Sporting. United writes Fernandes will be Amorim’s right-hand man. The two have previously also worked together in Braga and Casa Pia.

Jorge Vital, who Amorim has worked with for the past four years at Sporting, will be United’s new goalkeeper coach. In addition, the club has hired Emanuel Ferro and Paulo Barreira as first-team coach and physical trainer respectively. Ferro and Barreira also both come from Sporting.

Barreira has a past with Arsenal and Liverpool, among others.

The fifth man, Adelio Candido, has also been hired as first-team coach, but the appointment is conditional on his work visa being in order, United writes on their website.

There is no doubt about this. “A new identity”, as Amorim himself called it, is on the way. We are looking forward to it.
