The English press has been rumored about this transfer for several weeks, but the Spanish big club does not see it as a priority.

In recent weeks, the British media have once again linked Virgil van Dijk to Real Madrid. But according to Spanish sources, the message from the Santiago Bernabéu is clear: The Dutch Liverpool stopper is not part of the club’s future plans.

On April 8, Real Madrid will travel to the Emirates Stadium for the first quarter-final of the Champions League against Arsenal.

Van Dijk, whose contract expires on June 30 and turns 34 in July, was recently offered to Madrid through his representative. This is not the first time, but the answer is the same as in January: The club appreciates the offer, but is looking for a different type of player.

Spotlighting Young Talents

According to DefensaCentral, the time to bring in veterans is over for Real Madrid. The sports management wants to refine the defence, where players such as Antonio Rüdiger (32) and David Alaba (turning 33 in June) are nearing the end of their peak years. The goal is to find young centre-back profiles with long-term potential.

Dean Huijsen on the radar

One name that is attracting interest is Dean Huijsen, the 19-year-old Spanish international who is currently on loan at Bournemouth from Juventus. With a contract until 2030 and a trigger clause of 50 million euros, he is considered a future investment project.

In addition, the club still has confidence in Éder Militão (27), and is working to retain talents such as Raúl Asencio.

Real Madrid are not desperate for new signings and prefer to work quietly. They do not want to push up prices or disturb the good atmosphere in the wardrobe. However, if the right profile appears, they will not hesitate to act.

One thing is clear: Virgil van Dijk, despite his reputation, is not on the list.
