Preparations are in full swing for a post-Ancelotti era at the Santiago Bernabéu.
Real Madrid have already decided who will take over the coaching responsibilities when Carlo Ancelotti’s term is over. Despite the many rumours in recent days about a possible immediate departure for the Italian coach – especially after the upcoming classic against Barcelona on Sunday – the reality is different. As revealed by Manu Carreño in Cadena SER’s El Larguero program, the white club has no intention of announcing anything after the match against Barcelona, regardless of the result.

Ancelotti will continue to lead the team until La Liga is decided, after which he will leave the club to take over the Brazilian national team. The chosen person to lead the new Merengue project will be Xabi Alonso. The current Bayer Leverkusen manager, with a brilliant winning streak in the Bundesliga in recent months, already has the club’s support, and his arrival is scheduled for next summer – just in time to take over the helm before the Club World Cup.

Thus, the possibility of Santiago Solari acting as interim coach, as has been speculated, has been dismissed. Real Madrid have opted for a direct transition towards the new era that will be led by the coach from Donostia.
Ancelotti himself made it clear a few days ago that he is only focusing on the present and on finishing the season as well as possible, when asked about his future.

“I’m focused on preparing the games well,”
Unless something completely unexpected happens, Xabi Alonso will therefore take his place on the white bench from June. His familiarity with the club, style of play and recent success as a coach have convinced the board, who are already working on his arrival. The post-Ancelotti era has already been given a name and a surname.
