Let it be said, when Ratcliffe this week listed signings that have been hampering for United, Mason Mount was not mentioned, both Sancho and Antony were. For former Manchester United player Gary Pallister, it doesn’t matter, he thinks Mount has to be the worst signing on this planet anyway.

Manchester United forked out £55 million for Chelsea’s former academy player. Since the summer of 2023, the midfielder has not warmed up in the United shirt. Injuries, lack of match form and Ten Hag’s lack of confidence and play have ensured that. Then came the change to Ruben Amorim, the change came immediately, where Mount showed he fits very well into Amorim’s formation and game. Not many weeks later, Mount was out with a new injury.

So far, there have been 33 games on the Mount, with a poor goal signing. The last game the 26-year-old was on the pitch was back in mid-December. On Wednesday, United showed a smiling Mount finally back on the training ground with the rest of the players. Gary Pallister played football for Manchester United in central defence from 1989 to 1998, he believes Mount has been a disaster for the Red Devils anyway

-Mason Mount is one of the worst signings ever. Like in the history of football. It’s literally a disaster. He’s a disaster, and so was he at Chelsea, so I can’t understand why Man Utd decided to bring him in,” Pallister grumbled.

“I’ve always said that I don’t know what his best position is. I don’t know what he’s good at, and even worse, I don’t think he knows either. Of course, it’s a shame for him that he’s always injured, but… Is he really injured? I don’t know, but it seems like he very easily gets into a shape where he can’t or doesn’t want to play football,” says Pallister.

We choose to be happy that Mason Mount is back on the training ground and look forward to Ruben Amorim getting the midfielder to work.
