When the Danish player signed for Rennes in the summer of 2024 and met the Danish press as a new national team player, he sent a heap of praise to the Norwegian club and the work being done in the Eliteserien. This was the last time we saw a delighted Grønbæk.

That didn’t work out at Rennes, not even on loan to Southampton for the second part of last season. We wrote earlier that it was time to do as Jens Petter Hauge and Philip Zinckernagel did to pull “home” to Aspmyra, but Rennes will sell the 24-year-old to cover as much as possible of the investment of 15 million euros they made in the Dane. On Monday, the video came out confirming that unfortunately there will not be a return to Glimt – yet.

In recent days, Grønbæk has been strongly linked to Genoa and Serie A, transfer journalist Gianluca Di Marzio now posted a video where the Dane comes for a medical test at the Serie A club. Genoa is renting Grønbæk for the season, including a purchase option of 10.5 million euros.

We wish Grønbæk with its third league since the exit from Bodø/Glimt in 2024 good luck. If this doesn’t work, it’s time to pull on the yellow shirt again, Albert.
