The Danish national team manager Kasper Hjulmand until this summer’s European Championship is relevant as a replacement the day Bayer Leverkusen manager Xabi Alonso decides to move on to a bigger club. – Before Liverpool hired Arne Slot as manager this summer, Alonso was at the very top of their lists, as was he at Bayern Munich.

With Real Madrid on the ball, all three clubs that Xabi Alonso has played for are he wanted despite his very short career as a manager. The success and Bundesliga gold with Bayer Leverkusen was the 42-year-old’s first big job as a coach.

Almost all arrows point to a move at Real Madrid next summer. – Carlo Ancelotti takes his hat and goes and Xabi Alonso is at the top of the list of replacements.

Leverkusen have started probing the terrain with a view to potential replacements and they have several names on the list. Bild mentions that the former Danish national team manager Kasper Hjulmand is an exciting candidate.

The 52-year-old left the Danish national team this summer after Euro 2024 after just over four years in the position and one advantage that is mentioned with him is that he is available without a transfer fee.

Hjulmand has also trained in Denmark’s North Zealand and Germany’s Mainz, among others.

Other names previously mentioned as potential replacements include current Brighton boss Fabian Hürzeler as well as Germany’s assistant national team manager Sandro Wagner. Stuttgart coach Sebastian Hoeness is also on the list.
