Two years ago, Ryan Reynolds and Hollywood buddy took over Wrexham. The club was in the amateur league and we all thought it was a bit “cute” that Deadpool was going to get a new hobby. This month, the same club will start in England’s second-best league after three direct promotions. A Premier League player signs up to be part of the continuation of this football adventure.
In League Two, the sceptics said Wrexham would struggle, the same in League One. Now the same stanzas come when the Wrexham gang will face clubs such as Southampton, Birmingham, Blackpool, Ipswich, Coventry and Leicester in competition for promotion to the Premier League. We’ve stopped underestimating the Wrexham squad. Now they are adding a very strong signing.

Conor Coady has 198 Premier League games and 179 Championship games under his belt. On Friday, the 32-year-old signed a two-year contract with Wrexham, with the club paying Leicester £2 million. The centre-back has a background from Liverpool’s academy, in the first team he made two appearances, then 317 games for Wolverhampton, the last two seasons for Leicester with 46 games and two goals.
It is no coincidence that Coady is brought to Wrexham. In the 2023/24 season, he helped Leicester to the Championship title and promotion.
The former England international is looking forward like a kid to helping Wrexham.
“I’m overjoyed. It’s a very special day, to be honest. We have all seen what the club has achieved in recent years, and for me it is very special to be a part of it. I can’t wait to meet the guys and get started,” Coady told the club’s website.
