Angel Gomes left Manchester United when there were no doors open for enough playing time in the senior team. The trip went to Ligue 1 in 2020, and many thought the playmaker was done on the ball island. Five years later, the Premier League club are queuing up to secure the England international. The first offer has been pushed across the table.
Graham Potter has taken over the coaching job at West Ham after Julen Lopetegui’s fumble, but 16th place after 29 games has not given Potter much peace of mind. Fortunately, Southampton, Leicester and Ipswich have collected so few points that relegation is not threatened, so the London club can still promise the Premier League to players in the transfer market. Now it is reported that West Ham have been on the offensive to persuade Gomes about the Hammers.
Gomes’ contract expires this summer, and the 24-year-old is in a position to negotiate with other clubs. According to The Guardian, West Ham pushed an offer over the table with £100,000 in weekly wages.
Gomes apparently didn’t need much time to think about it. Even with the current weekly salary of 13,654 euros, he knows that he is in a negotiating position. He is probably waiting to see what Manchester United, Liverpool and the other big clubs have to offer.
