Anyone remember Michael Appleton? The midfielder worked his way up the United academy, but ended up with two senior games between 1994 and 1997, the rest being loan stays. Since 2011, Appleton has been part of the coaching industry on the ball island, now it is ready for a new challenge in the English third division, which next season will be the fourth division.
Appleton has managed Oxford and Lincoln City for two or three seasons, otherwise there have been short stints at Blackburn, West Bromwich, Portsmouth, Leicester and Charlton.

With 1 game left, Shrewsbury are at the bottom of the table and cannot save themselves from relegation to League Two. Appleton is nevertheless trusted to lead the club as head coach for the next two years.
Congratulations!
