The recent time at Old Trafford was marked by a strong dissatisfaction with reserve goalkeeper Sergio Romero. The Argentine felt that he had loyally followed Man Utd and shown patience with a lack of playing time, but was shown what Mrs. Romero described as disrespectful behavior from the club, when they held back when he was given the opportunity for a loan stay and permanent transfer at various clubs. The exit came in 2021. Five years later, the 39-year-old has decided that enough is enough.
Romero was part of the Man Utd squad in the 2015-21 period, which lifted titles in the Europa League, FA Cup and League Cup, but for the Argentine he only made 61 appearances during that period. Not much to brag about, perhaps, but second and third goalkeepers have a very important role at a club like Manchester United.

The trip went on to Venice for a guest appearance with 16 games, before returning to Argentina and Boca Juniors in 2022. Here there have been 88 games on Romero. In total, there have been a solid 96 games for the Argentine national team. Here he is particularly remembered as a hero of Brazil World Cup 2014 in a “Today you will be a hero” moment, with two penalty saves against the Netherlands, which sent Argentina to a World Cup final after 24 years.
Now the 39-year-old has announced that he is hanging up his gloves. We thank you for the entertainment and wish Romero the best of luck on his journey.
