Ciro Immobile, the superstar of Serie A with 201 goals in 353 games, 17 goals in 57 games in the Italian national team. Besiktas secured the precision signing in the summer of 2024, since then Immobile has a very good 14 goals in 29 games. Then came Solskjaer and the 34-year-old has experienced less playing time and a goal drought. A Turkish journalist believes it is only a matter of time before the Italian disappears.
Solskjaer has led Besiktas to four wins, one draw and one defeat in their first six games and has already turned pessimism into optimism among players and supporters.
Perhaps with one exception.
Immobile has not scored with Solskjaer on the sidelines and has had to be substituted for several games. Turkish football commentator Gokmen Ozcan believes Immobile and Solskjaer are not “compatible”, with one of the two having to leave the club.
– The Italian striker has not been able to adapt to the high pace of the team under Solskjaer. He also struggles with the finishing. The club management has two choices at the end of the season: Find a coach who suits Immobile, or get rid of him. The decision should be obvious.
