Ange Postecoglou is used to tough battles with club owners at Tottenham, where former chairman Daniel Levy had a disturbing record of clashing with the Spurs manager and then sending them out of the gate. Still, with the Australian now accepting his next Premier League club, he should know that this time he will be coming to a real Greek hornet’s nest.

On Tuesday, Nottingham Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis fired his success coach last season, Nuno Santo. The Portuguese had lifted Forest from near-relegation to 7th place in the Premier League and a long fight for a Champions League ticket (eventually got the Europa League ticket Palace was deprived). After much arguing between Marinakis and Santo, it ended with the sacking after three league games and the same number of points as Ruben Amorim at United. In now comes Postecoglou.

According to The Ahtletic, the former Tottenham manager will be ready as the new Forest manager shortly, ready to lead the club against Arsenal this weekend.

Postecoglou has shown he cynically sacrificed the Premier League to bring home the Europa League trophy last season, Tottenham’s first in 17 years. Now the Australian will bring his success from the Europa League to the forests of Nottingham, but 17th place in the Premier League like last season, the Greek Marinakis certainly does not accept that.
