On Sunday, Tottenham will face Sunderland. It will be the meeting between the club that was run over 0-3 by Nottingham Forest, against the club that sunk Newcastle at St. James’ Park with a 1-2 victory. Tottenham are fighting for survival in the Premier League, Sunderland have already made the season a huge success story, chasing 5th place just six points up. Igor Tudor promised survival with him as Tottenham coach, now a former Spurs player/coach signs up and says he is ready to take over.
Since Thomas Frank was eased out of the coaching chair at Spurs, defeats have come in a row in the Premier League, with a 1-1 exception against Liverpool. Tim Sherwood is hurting to see his old club get relegated in slow motion, especially when it’s “squeaky easy” to save their place in the Premier League.
The 57-year-old managed Tottenham from 2013 to 2014, he is ready to take over the management.
“I would have kept them in the Premier League. I think a person with common sense can keep them in the Premier League. They have the qualities to do it. You have to make them feel comfortable again and rebuild confidence in the team. It’s not complicated. You train them every single day – 11 on 11, so they know exactly where to stand on the pitch,” Sherwood told Sky Sports.
-When Micky (van de Ven) starts dribbling around and taking the ball forward, you stop him. If he has to do that, and Romero has to sprint forward to influence the game offensively, it’s because we’re not doing anything right up there. Stay in your positions and keep a clean sheet first and foremost. If you can’t win the game, don’t lose it. Keep them organized, that’s the suggestion,” Sherwood concludes.
So ridiculously easy to do the job better than Igor Tudor.
Then we’ll see if the Spurs management hits the panic button and brings in Sherwood with the plan.
