Memphis Depay was brought to Old Trafford in 2015 from PSV for a hefty £25 million. Two years and 53 games later, the conclusion was made. Memphis was anything but a success for United, the flop label in England still hangs on the Dutch striker. At Lyon, everything changed, Depay was once again one of the sharpest in Europe. Then there was an exit in Ligue 1 in 2021, again Depay disappeared from stardom, first as a Barcelona player, then a round at Atletico Madrid. On Monday night, the Dutchman scored his new club a cup title, after the game came a tirade.
The club is Brazilian Corinthians, in 65 games the man with the headband has delivered 19 goals and 14 assists, the latest as a match-winning goal in the 2-1 win against Vasco da Gama in the cup final.

Although the Dutchman was delighted with the cup triumph, he was also furious after the game, where he lashed out at the club management.
“The people on the board have to wake up. I know exactly who I’m talking about, and they know it themselves. Leave this club, go somewhere else and make a mess, because this club will grow,” Mepay begins energetically according to De Telegraaf.
“Anyone who wants to destroy Corinthians must go,” said the leadership. This club needs structure. I’m here to create structure, but I need more help. This club wants to fight for the Libertadores and the championship every year, because the fans deserve it,” Depay fired after the game.
It was reasonably explicit. We are eagerly following the continuation, where Depay is either kept as a club hero, or is pushed straight out of the club. After the cup triumph, we believe in the first.
