Things are going really well for former Molde midfielder Fredrik Aursnes at the Portuguese big club Benfica. – Since joining from Feyenoord in 2022, he has worked his way in and become a central part of the squad.
There have been rumours about both the Bundesliga and the Premier League recently, in order to prevent that, or at least get paid well, Benfica have extended the deal with the 29-year-old. The Portuguese club confirms the extension on their website and posts an interview where you can hear Fredrik Aursnes speak abroad.
After Sporting lost Ruben Amorim to Mancehster United, they have lost two straight games in the Primeria Liga. Benfica are two points behind with one game less played.
Speaking to BTV after renewing his contract, the midfielder expressed his satisfaction. “I am very happy to renew my contract. I love Benfica very much and love Lisbon and Portugal,” Aursnes said.
When asked about his progress with the eagle on his chest, the midfielder was clear: “It’s been good; happy times, hard times too, but I hope to continue to be happy in the future.”
A player whose qualities are appreciated by fans, Aursnes hopes to continue paying back on the pitch. “I like the team very much, and I also like Benfiquistas,” he said, assessing the season so far: “We’re doing well so far, but we want more, we’re going to fight for victory in every game.”
The Sunnmøringen, who initially had a contract until 2027, agreed to renew with Benfica for another two seasons. The new contract lasts until 2029.
