Frenkie de Jong, along with Matthijs de Ligt, were two of the hottest talents on the transfer market in 2019 after a terrific season with Ten Hag and Ajax in the Champions League. The choice for de Jong fell on Barcelona, who had to shell out a stiff 75 million euros. Four years+ later, the Dutchman is disappointed. The midfielder chose Barcelona for titles, the result has been meager.
“I have to admit that when I moved to Barcelona, I didn’t expect to win just one La Liga title, a Copa del Rey title and a Spanish Super Cup title in four years,” De Jong begins to Voetbal International.
“I had expected at least twice as much, so I’m disappointed about that, but in the world of football, things happen that you can’t predict,” De Jong said.
Then we will see if De Jong will be seen in the Barca shirt next season as well, the Dutchman is looking for a club that does not involve a salary cut
