Amorim in distress as Manchester United denied vital reinforcement

According to reports, Manchester United will have great difficulty in signing a new midfielder this summer, and due to Casemiro’s continued presence. They wanted to sell Casemiro in the winter window, but could not find any buyers for the Brazilian, who earns around €350,000 a week at United.

The 33-year-old was a key player during United’s Europa League run, but the club are now willing to let him go for the right price to free up space in the wage budget.

After the friendly against Leeds United, Amorim clearly hinted at the need for a new midfielder:
“We lack pace, especially in central midfield, and it shows when we have to build up the game,” he said after the goalless game.

Difficult road for United in the midfield market
According to the Manchester Evening News, Casemiro’s continued presence will make it extra difficult for United to bring in a new central midfielder before the transfer window closes.

The report emphasizes that the club must first raise money through player sales, even though Christian Eriksen has already left. Bruno Fernandes was also linked with a move away from United earlier this summer, but the Portuguese turned down a lucrative offer from Saudi Arabia.

Manuel Ugarte and Toby Collyer are other options, along with Kobbie Mainoo – but the latter is now linked with a possible move to Tottenham.

Amorim has a gem to polish
Although United are struggling to recruit new reinforcements, Amorim has a promising young player in Sekou Kone.

Kone was originally ready for a loan to Lausanne Sport, but has impressed the coaching staff so much that he is now staying.

The 19-year-old is part of United’s US tour and is expected to get game time in the Premier League Summer Series against West Ham, Bournemouth and Everton.
