When Rasmus Hojlund got Garnacho and Kobbie Mainoo to sit on the advertising fence at Old Trafford and let themselves be pictured in triumph, this was meant to be an iconic image of the future Man Utd stars. Three, four years later, the first two are out of the club, while Mainoo has been called back into the heat after the Amorim exit. There was optimism among the kids, and belief in superstardom at a very young age. Garnacho disappeared to Chelsea last summer, one year older he realizes that he “turned out” at Manchester United.

In an interview with Sky Sports, the 21-year-old speaks out about his exit from Manchester United.

The first question is whether he regrets the way he left Man Utd.

“Maybe, yes. I really loved that club. They gave me confidence right from the start. They brought me from Spain to the academy and took me up to the first team. It was four to five years of love from everyone,” Garanacho begins.

Who feels that things started to go wrong during the last six months at the club.

“I remember that during the last six months, I suddenly didn’t play at all like I had before. I was on the bench, which is not really a bad thing. I was only 20 years old, but in my head it was like I had to play every game. In my head – and that part is maybe my fault – I started doing some stupid things,” says Garnacho.

A little older, a little smarter. We wish Garnacho the best of luck on his journey.
