This summer, Nottingham Forest hired Edu Gaspar as global director of football. A pompous title that was supposed to signal the ambitions of Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis. Edu had teamed up with Mikel Arteta to build Arsenal into Premier League title contenders, now the Spaniard was going to pour out his experience pot and use the network for Nottingham Forest. Nine months later, he is unwanted at the City Ground, it is reported.
Edu took over as sporting director with Nottingham Forest in a strong seventh place in the Premier League (with a Europa League ticket). The expectations for this season were not surprising further climbing. Four different coaches later, player signings who have not delivered and relegation battles, have created great frustrations internally, claims The Athletic.

According to the English media, Edu has missed the club’s last three games, where he is expected to be finished as sporting director soon. Nottingham Forest management is said to have informed Edu Gaspar to stay away from both the training facility and the stadium pending his dismissal, it is reported.
On Wednesday, Forest took a very important point against Manchester City in the 2-2 draw at the Etihad, but Edu certainly doesn’t get credit for this.
