Mason Mount has pulled in around £250,000 in weekly wages since his move from Chelsea in 2023. There are mixed opinions on what Mount has really contributed to the United game, out with a long injury break and a total of 66 games, 7 goals and 2 assists, but the technical midfielder has plenty of fans at Old Trafford. Now it is reported that Aston Villa have their sights set on bringing the 27-year-old to Villa Park.
Opinions are also divided on whether United should keep Mount in the squad. Michael Carrick has had little pleasure from Mount so far, only 1 minute against City, against Arsenal it was the bench, then came a bang that has kept the midfielder out since. Against Everton, Mount was still not in the matchday squad.

Former Manchester United chief scout Mick Brown has heard Aston Villa have shown interest in Mount and are monitoring the situation closely.
Villa clearly have a new tradition of bringing in outcasts or redundant United players. Last season it was Marcus Rashford on loan, this Jadon Sancho is part of Unai Emery’s squad.
Brown claims Aston Villa were keen to sign Mount before choosing United, it will come as no surprise that there will be a new push.
“He has a very good reputation and he has been talked about very highly at Man United. Everyone I talk to says that he is fantastic in training, he works very hard, and his overall behaviour around the club and in the dressing room is good. It’s always good to hear if you’re looking for a player, because it’s important to bring in people who have the right attitude and effort. I’ve told Aston Villa they’ve been keen on him before and I’m sure he’s still on their radar and then you have teams like Fulham who will look for him if he’s made available,” the former United scout told Football-Insider.

Man United paid around £55 million, have been given 66 games since 2023. There is little doubt about Mount’s potential, the question is whether Man Utd are served by bringing in as much as possible from Aston Villa and letting Emery see if the potential can be realised.
