It is good news for the Drammen club that they now get back one of their old heroes. Strømsgodset is struggling to collect points this season and has only 6 points after 9 games down in the yellow zone in the Eliteserien.

A few days ago, they brought in Dag-Eilev Fagermo as the new head coach after Jørgen Isnes, who left after two and a half years.

Gustav Mendonca Wikheim (32) is back at Strømsgodset, almost ten years after he left the club to try his luck abroad.

Wikheim is brought in from Danish Nordsjælland, which he only signed for as recently as February this year. It feels great to be back. It feels like the right thing. It has been close several times, but for various reasons it has not gone before. Now we got it right, and it feels very nice, says Gustav Wikheim after signing the contract that makes him a SIF player again.

From Godset to Europe and the Middle East
The winger was a key player for Strømsgodset before he was sold to Belgian side Ghent in 2015. Since then, he has played for clubs in Saudi Arabia, Sweden and Denmark.

Back where it started
Now he returns to the club where he became league champion in 2013.

Comes to a team in crisis
The transfer takes place while Strømsgodset is going through a tough league opener. The team is in 14th place in the Eliteserien with only six points from nine games, and has especially struggled at home. Read:
