The goal for West Ham became quite quickly this season to survive in the Premier League. – Graham Potter was brought in as the new manager in January and throughout the spring the London club managed to hold off enough so that they get a Premier League contract next season as well.

With three games left, West Ham are in the bottom place that is not relegated, it is not good enough and the clean-up is in full swing.

West Ham have announced that Aaron Cresswell, Lukasz Fabianski, Vladimir Coufal and Danny Ings will leave the club at the end of the season.

New summer clean-up underway
The Hammers are facing yet another extensive summer upheaval. What was supposed to be a season of progress has quickly turned into decline, which led to manager Julen Lopetegui (on May 1, Julen Lopetegui got the job as national team manager for Qatar) and sporting director Tim Steidten leaving the club.

Graham Potter 16 3 5 8

The club spent a whopping €144 million on new players last summer, yet West Ham have plummeted to 17th place in the Premier League table – even though relegation fears have now been averted.

Graham Potter took over from Lopetegui, but the early optimism surrounding his appointment has given way to disappointment, as results have not followed despite a small but noticeable improvement in his game.

Four players confirmed on their way out
FootballTransfers reported on Thursday that West Ham are among the clubs interested in Genoa midfielder Morten Frendrup, and it is also understood that Wolfsburg’s Mattias Svanberg is on the radar.

When it comes to possible departures, Mohammed Kudus is frequently linked with a transfer. He is in demand by Saudi Arabian clubs, but there is also interest from bigger Premier League clubs.

However, a possible sale of Kudus is still just speculation, while West Ham have now confirmed that four players are definitely leaving the club:

  • Goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianski (40 years)
  • Full-backs Aaron Cresswell (35 years old) and Vladimir Coufal (32 years old)
  • Striker Danny Ings (32 years)

All four have contracts expiring, and West Ham will not extend their deals. Cresswell is leaving the club after a decade, while Fabianski has been a faithful official since 2018. Coufal and Ings joined the club in 2020 and 2023, respectively.

By letting these players go, West Ham lose a lot of experience – but at the same time, all four have been peripheral figures this season. Now, Graham Potter faces a significant rebuild of the squad ahead of next season.
