Chelsea do not want to start the season with Raheem Sterling in the squad, neither do Arsenal after the test bed last season with 1 goal in playing time in 28 games. Now the door is opening for the former England international to stay in London and the Premier League. There is still a coach who loves the 30-year-old.

Sterling is back at Chelsea after failing to impress on loan at Arsenal, but is one of nine players who have been brutally removed from the club’s website, a clear sign that he is redundant. West Ham United could now be about to offer Sterling a way out, reports talkSport. Manager Graham Potter has a good relationship with Sterling, which could help secure a potential deal.

Sterling is said to prefer to stay in London if he changes clubs, which means West Ham could be a good option. Fulham are also said to be interested in Sterling, as well as an unnamed Champions League club. West Ham have already been active in the transfer market this summer. Mohammed Kudus has moved on to Tottenham, but Potter has brought in Kyle Walker-Peters, Callum Wilson and El Hadji Malick Diouf. Now it is reported that Potter believes Sterling under his leadership will deliver better than at Chelsea and Arsenal.

Potter worked with Sterling at Chelsea, and although his reign at Stamford Bridge was short-lived, Sterling was always the focal point of the attack at the time. “Raheem is an important player for us. He has incredible speed, quality and experience at the highest level. He can play in multiple attacking positions and always gives it his all,” was Potter’s description of Sterling in 2023.

West Ham Zone describe a Sterling signing as “completely natural”. Then we will see if there will be a reunion.
