The atmosphere is not particularly good in North London or among approximately 170 million Tottenham fans worldwide. – There is massive criticism of manager Thomas Frank, who has “taken with him” the winning recipe from his time at Brentford and experienced that, probably too late, he needs a new recipe.
It is not at all certain that he will be allowed to continue for much longer, messages from a gathered press corps in England and what we see with our own eyes speak a clear language.
Giant bid: Alexander Sørloth no longer has to sit on the bench and watch Julián Álvarez play football
Tottenham’s 2 – 0 loss away at Old Trafford against Manchester United does not help with job security.
Thomas Frank’s departure at Tottenham imminent as the “breaking point” has been reached at the same time as the manager 170 million Tottenham fans the world dreams of returning has given the green light.
Right now, he is trying to come to terms with having taken on the job as national team manager for the United States.
Tottenham manager Thomas Frank is one game away from being sacked.
Thomas Frank could be one game away from losing his job as manager of Tottenham Hotspur, in the wake of a series of frightening statistics. With the club management seemingly reaching breaking point, the club now has hope that a quality successor will give the green light for a move to N17.
The pressure on Frank has now reached what well-placed sources describe as “breaking point”, while there is a warning that Tuesday’s Premier League home game against Newcastle United could prove decisive. A defeat at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium could seal the Danish manager’s fate and potentially end his tenure after less than one season at the helm.

With only one win in the last 10 games (and two in the last 16), Tottenham have been dragged down into the Premier League’s relegation battle. The coach has won only 13 of his 37 games at the helm across all competitions – a win rate of just 35.13%. Only seven of those victories have come in the Premier League, just one more than West Ham, who are in 18th place.
Frank joined from Brentford last summer as a successor to the sacked Ange Postecoglou, with the task of building on the club’s Europa League success. But the results have been disappointing. After Saturday’s 2-0 defeat to Manchester United, Spurs are dangerously close to the relegation zone – just six points above – with a meagre win percentage and supporters openly turning against him.
Bookmakers now list Frank as the overwhelming favourite to be the next Premier League manager to be sacked, with odds sharply reduced in recent days.
Insiders suggest that another poor performance against Eddie Howe’s Magpies could trigger immediate action.
If Frank leaves the club, Tottenham are expected to appoint an interim manager – possibly Johnny Heitinga, who is already part of the support staff – to lead the team through the rest of the season, thus buying time for a permanent solution.
Further down the line, the London club have already named the man they want to take over in the long term, but such an appointment will have to wait. This is why Spurs, who wanted Frank to succeed, have stood by him until now and so far refused to pull the trigger on his reign.
TEAMTalk was the first to report that Mauricio Pochettino says YES
With the Spurs management already planning a successor, we revealed last week that the long-term picture points towards a sensational reunion with Mauricio Pochettino.
The Argentine, who currently leads the United States towards their home-hosted World Cup in 2026, has given the green light to return to North London when his international mission concludes this summer.
Pochettino, who was the mastermind behind Spurs’ path to the Champions League final in 2019, remains deeply loved by supporters for his attacking philosophy and emotional attachment to the club. Sources indicate that he has no plans to extend his $6 million annual contract with the USMNT after the championship, and will unconditionally accept the role back at Tottenham, despite interest from other quarters. – Among other things, Manchester United.
The Tottenham board’s patience seems to be running out in the middle of a season marked by inconsistency, injuries and fan dissatisfaction.
A win over Newcastle could give Frank temporary respite, but the writing seems to be on the wall.
As the World Cup approaches, Pochettino’s potential return could open a new chapter – or simply be nostalgia. For now, all eyes are on Tuesday’s decisive clash and a result that could prove to be Frank’s farewell if they don’t get the much-needed result.
