His debut on the Danish national team came in early September 2024. A debut that left Danish journalists scratching their heads. Where did this player come from, overlooked by the national team coach and now brimming with confidence, directly to top performances in the Danish national team shirt. The answer was Bodø/Glimt. Grønbæk had signed with Ligue 1 club Rennes in July, but it was big games at Bodø/Glimt that had given the Dane entry into the national team. After 8 international matches, it was a brutal stop for Grønbæk, without much playing time at Rennes, Southampton or Genoa. Now the 24-year-old believes he has made moves that give him the opportunity to bring out the “Bodø/Glimt level” in him as a player – and thus national team play.

The move was signing with Hamburger SV, on loan for the rest of the season. With an option to buy 5 million euros, reports German Bild.

French football did not suit Grønbæk well, nor did Italian. German football is basically a better match with Grønbæk’s strengths in the transition game, a lot of power and running capacity.

In an interview with Abendblatt , Grønbæk talks about the belief that HSV is made for him as a player.

– HSV’s style of play will suit me better. Everyone here wants the ball. The coach told me that too, says Grønbæk and continues about a potential selection for the national team: I hope to get a lot of playing time at HSV and be selected for the national team. If I get into a rhythm, I have a good chance,” says Grønbæk.

Danish Bold adds that “this statement comes at a time when he has had trouble resuming the level he previously showed at the Norwegian club Bodø/Glimt.”

We wish Grønbæk the best of luck in the Bundesliga – and the pursuit of the “Bodø/Glimt level”.
