Jürgen Klopp last winter sent shockwaves through Liverpool and the rest of the football world with the message that he will step down as Liverpool manager after the 2023/24 season and probably retire as coach. Then Pep Guardiola was asked how he reacted. The City manager has great respect for his rival, but thought the German was screwed up like himself, Klopp returns as coach. Simply because that’s what the two legendary coaches live and breathe for. Now there are signals that could prove Guardiola right.

Jürgen Klopp was linked to several big jobs when he walked out of Anfield as a self-imposed coaching retiree, but kept his word to Liverpool supporters that he did not resign early to manage another club. It came as a big surprise when it became clear Klopp was tying himself to Red Bull as global director of football. Dortmund supporters were stunned that “their” Klopp went to the football enemy that owns RB Leipzig, on the ball island it was also not so well received that Klopp now wanted to have a partial oversight of Red Bull’s football venture at Leeds.

Either way, Klopp has been working for a few months as Global Head of Soccer, and life goes on. Brazilian UOL is following the process of hiring a new national team coach for Brazil after the 4-1 thrashing in the World Cup qualifier against Argentina, and claims they have picked up on signals about Klopp.

The Brazilian media claims that reports are leaking out that Klopp is not particularly happy in his job at Red Bull, where the German is said to be ready to leave the manager’s job if Real Madrid or the Brazilian Football Federation make an offer of a coaching job.

Carlo Ancelotti and Jorge Jesus are said to be the favourites to take over the Brazil job. Should Ancelotti go towards exit Real Madrid after the Champions League peel against Arsenal and take over the coaching job for Brazil before the 2026 World Cup, it will also mean that the coaching job at Real Madrid will become vacant.
