When Pep Guardiola sits in front of English journalists, philosophical and veiled answers are often given. When the City manager faced famous Spanish chef Dani Garcia on his Desmontadito YouTube channel, it was clearly setting for the honest answers – about the way forward after Manchester City.
Guardiola is in the midst of a rollercoaster of sporting downturns, where he and Manchester City seem anything but “otherworldly” in a matter of months. The 53-year-old has recently signed an extension with City until 2027, regardless of whether the club is punished with relegation, or not.
Chef Garcia wanted to know what Guardiola will do after he is done at City, a return to Barcelona awaits, for example?
-I will not manage any other club after City. I’m not talking about the long-term, but what I’m not going to do is leave, go to another country, do the same as now,” Guardiola begins.
Before he adds:
-Maybe a national team, but that’s different.
Guardiola was linked to the coaching job for England, but steered clear. The Brazilian Football Federation has been very active this autumn in persuading the Spaniard to lead the sambannation in the major championships.
Judging by the answer of Chef Garcia, Guardiolas is heading for a coaching job for one of the biggest football nations, not a Barcelona, Bayern Munich or Inter Miami.
