It was a tough week when Manchester City were sent out of the Champions League after two Real Madrid defeats. Pep Guardiola has stated in previous seasons that he is deprioritizing English cups in order to win the Premier League and Champions League, but Saturday’s playhouse against Liverpool in the FA Cup quarter-finals must have done insanely well in a somewhat sluggish season.
Because it is not everyday that City round Liverpool with a 4-0 victory. For Erling Haaland, vacation days have clearly worked wonders.

A hat-trick on the Norwegian international against the reigning Premier League champions is definitely something to take with you into the end of the season.
“It’s been a while since I’ve done it for City, so it’s time I did it again. It’s special, so I’m super happy,” Haaland told TNT.
Especially nice for Haaland is that this came against his biggest defensive rival in the Premier League, Virgil van Dijk.

The Liverpool captain’s statement after the game says it all.
“It’s tough. It’s hard to accept, but this is the reality. I’m not going to deny it, this one is hard to swallow,” says a dejected van Dijk.
