A bit strange that Barcelona are so confident that Polish goal machine Robert Lewandowski will not be able to extend his contract that expires in the summer due to age, while he is second on La Liga’s top scorers list and at the top of Barcelona’s list this season.

Lately, several headlines like this have surfaced: Harry Kane could replace Robert Lewandowski at Barcelona.

Now he has responded to the rumours that a sensational transfer from Bayern Munich to Barcelona is on the horizon. This while Robert Lewandowski has rejected the first contract offer he has received to leave La Liga as early as January.

Before tonight’s Bayern Munich meeting with Arsenal in the Champions League at the Emirates (where captain Martin Ødegaard is likely to be back from injury), Harry Kane was asked if he could be Lewandowski’s successor at Barca: “I haven’t had any contact with anyone, no one has contacted me. I am very happy in the current situation, even though we have not yet discussed my situation with Bayern.”

Harry Kane’s sublime period at Bayern:

  • Scored 109 goals in only 114 games.
  • Net 41 times last season to help Bayern to Bundesliga title.
  • Is the fastest player to reach 100 goals for a club in Europe’s top five leagues (in just 104 games).

“There is no rush. I really love Munich. You can see that in the way I play. If there is contact, we will see. But I’m not thinking about the new season yet.

First the World Championships this summer. And it’s very unlikely that anything will change after this season.”

When asked if Bayern fans should be worried about his future, Kane added: “No, I don’t think so.”

Barca are exploring potential strikers as they are ready to move on from Lewandowski at the end of the season. The Pole’s contract expires in June and is unlikely to be renewed.

Robert Lewandowski has a lot more football in his body
According to AS, Fenerbahçe are the first club to act on their interest in Lewandowski, and have offered him an 18-month contract.

However, the approach has failed as Lewandowski reportedly wants an extra year added to his deal. Fenerbahçe remain interested in signing the 37-year-old and are said to be planning a new contract offer, but so far they have turned down.

It was claimed on Saturday that clubs such as Manchester United and AC Milan are also interested in signing Lewandowski. It is also possible that he could move to Saudi Arabia and earn buckets of black money before moving on.

Should Kane choose between Barca and Spurs?
Returning to Kane, we revealed on November 3 that Barca are giving Tottenham Hotspur competition for the Bundesliga hitmaker.

Spurs “expect” Kane to return to north London via a €65 million buyout clause in his Bayern contract.

It is expected that Barca will go for the 32-year-old if they can raise the necessary funds, although the fact that Spurs have matching rights gives them an advantage.

Former Spurs and England star Chris Waddle recently broke the streak by suggesting that Kane should prioritise a move to LaLiga.

Dusan Vlahovic, Julián Álvarez, Karl Etta Eyong and Serhou Guirassy are other central strikers being considered by Hansi Flick’s side.
