Harry Maguire joined Manchester United before the 2019/2020 season, and has since made 266 appearances for the club.
He had a contract that was supposed to expire in the summer, but now the club is announcing an extension.
The new contract extends over the next season, and there is also an option for another season.
“Representing Manchester United is the greatest honour. It’s a responsibility that makes me and my family proud every single day. I am delighted to extend my journey at this fantastic club to at least eight seasons and to continue playing in front of our very special supporters,” Maguire said on the club’s website.
The 33-year-old wants to create more memories in the red shirt.
“You can feel the ambition and potential in this exciting squad. The determination across the club to fight for the major titles is clear for all to see, and I am convinced that our best moments together are still ahead of us.
According to the English newspaper The Guardian, Maguire is taking a pay cut. In the past, he is said to have earned £190,000 a week, and he will no longer earn that much. However, the newspaper does not specify how much he will take a pay cut.
