Several media outlets are now writing that Liverpool midfielder Harvey Elliott is “definitely” on his way out of the club in the summer transfer window.

Elliott, who joined Liverpool from Fulham in 2019, has made a total of 147 appearances for the Reds in all competitions and won six trophies, including two EFL Cup titles and his first Premier League championship last season.

However, the 22-year-old has had to settle for a peripheral role in Arne Slot’s squad this season, making just two appearances from the start and making 16 appearances in the 2024/25 Premier League.

Rising star in the national team
Earlier this summer, Elliott reinforced his reputation when he helped England’s U21 national team defend their European championship. He was named the tournament’s best player after scoring five goals in six games – the most of anyone in the squad.

The versatile midfielder, who can be used in a variety of positions both in midfield and attack, is now focused on his club career, while speculation of a permanent transfer is growing.

Elliott wants regular playing time
Elliott has recently admitted that he doesn’t want to “waste years” of his career, while facing an important decision about his future. He has a contract with Liverpool until June 2027.

Several English and European clubs are linked with the player, with former Premier League scout Mick Brown claiming that Elliott will leave Liverpool in search of regular game time.

Five clubs in the race
Brown, former chief scout for Manchester United and Blackburn Rovers, has said that as many as five clubs are ready to fight for Elliott’s signature.

Premier League clubs Brighton & Hove Albion, Newcastle United and Tottenham Hotspur are said to be among the interested parties after his impressive Euros performances. In addition, Bundesliga clubs Borussia Dortmund and RB Leipzig are showing interest.

“He’s going to leave Liverpool”
In an interview with Football Insider, Brown stated:
“Harvey Elliott is going to leave Liverpool, that’s for sure… The only question is where he ends up.”

“There is a lot of interest in him, with Brighton, Newcastle, Tottenham and several German clubs watching.”

“He could be a good investment for all these clubs, because he is an exceptionally talented player. The clubs have seen him in action for England’s under-21 national team and are now ready to act.”

“He no longer has a clear place at Liverpool, so they are willing to let him go. Wherever he ends up, he wants more game time – something he hasn’t had enough of at Liverpool.”

High transfer fee expected
Previous reports have suggested that Liverpool will demand a transfer fee of at least £40 million plus a buy-back clause, or over £50 million without such a deal.

The speculation about Elliott’s departure comes at the same time as it is reported that Luis Díaz has submitted a transfer request.
