He is 18 years young, but has already played in two games at one of the world’s biggest clubs, Bayern Munich. Then the Premier League called for the Swedish U21 international striker and went to Fulham on loan, last season’s 11th best club in England. Here, Jonah Kusi-Asare was to take the next step in the development from 1 September. The problem is that coach Marco Silva was not behind the signing.
Now the striker is struggling to get the match practice he needs before he returns to Vincent Kompany and Bayern.

Journalist Jack Kelly follows Fulham closely, and is very surprised by the chaotic situation for the Bayern striker.
“It has been a disaster so far. It’s pretty obvious that he wasn’t Marco Silva’s first choice when you look at who he wanted to sign this summer,” Kelly begins to the Swedish football channel.
Why do you think he was signed in the first place? Was it a panic move?
“I think there was panic. They wanted a striker throughout the transfer window. It’s classic that Fulham didn’t do their job in time. Everyone thought Kusi-Asare would be a good opportunity, but it’s clear that Marco Silva doesn’t think he’s ready to play in the Premier League. Marco Silva is only likely to use him if Fulham desperately need a goal and they need a striker on the pitch. But it has been a disaster. In the end, it boils down to a lack of planning and panic on Deadline Day,” Kelly continues.

“The Kusi-Asare signing would never have been done if Fulham had brought in a player earlier in the window. Because you need at least three strikers to compete in the Premier League. Fulham have two and one (players) who are not ready to play. Kusi-Asare is basically only on the bench if he is really, really needed. They will probably only use him if they absolutely have to,” says Kelly. There must be a reason. Maybe it’s Marco Silva’s way of saying ‘you couldn’t give me the striker I wanted, and I don’t want to play the one you brought here’. Or maybe it’s that he just doesn’t like him. Or that he doesn’t fit into the way he plays. It’s a very strange situation. In principle, I’ve never seen that before at Fulham,” the English journalist concludes.
