Ruben Amorim has been through his first 10 games as Manchester United manager. Presidents and prime ministers get their first 100 days on the job before they are evaluated, you don’t have this luxury as a coach of one of the world’s biggest clubs.

There is a list for “best” and “worst” in all categories in football – and especially at Manchester United. Now Sky Sports reports Ruben Amorim has had such a horrible start as Man United manager that we have to go back to the pre-war era to find a weaker one.

From November 1931 to July 1932, Walter Crickmer was interim manager of Manchester United. Here they lost in six of the first ten games. Crickmer is the only one in almost a hundred years who has made it weaker than Amorim. The Portuguese has lost five of his first ten games.

Here’s the resume for Amorim so far:

24 November: Ipswich 1-1 Manchester United
28 November: Manchester United 3-2 Bodø/Glimt
1 December: Manchester United 4-0 Everton
4 December: Arsenal 2-0 Manchester United
7 December: Manchester United 2-3 Nottingham Forest
12 December: Viktoria Plzen 1-2 Manchester United
15 December: Manchester City 1-2 Manchester United
19 December: Tottenham 4-3 Manchester United
22 December: Manchester United 0-3 Bournemouth
December 26: Wolverhampton 2-0 Manchester United

After the Wolverhampton loss, Amorim spoke out about the way forward. Full of fighting spirit, but also in touch with reality as a United coach.
