When the referee blew the whistle for full-time at Portman Road with the points split between Ipswich and Manchester United, the players thanked each other for the game and the cameras thanked each other. A photo taken by a United supporter shows what happened next, where Ruben Amorim gathered the players out on the pitch.

The United supporters who had made the trip to Ipswich were of course disappointed that the team failed to maintain the upper hand with Rashford’s goal after two minutes, but appreciated Amorim’s latest action of the evening.

In photos posted by a United supporter who was present at the stadium, Amorim shows gathering his players to get them to go over to their away supporters who had made their way to Ipswich.

Reactions from United supporters on social media were immediate:

Reacting to the clip, one supporter wrote: “This is similar to what Klopp did when he first came to Liverpool, took a disorganised team and made them get in touch with the supporters. Brought back their unity and trust.”

“Glad to see some smart moves from the coach”, wrote the next.

Another agreed, adding: “Getting in touch with the supporters and understanding the meaning of this means is a good start.”

Ruben Amorim has started at the right end.
