Not many hours after Ruben Amorim had been sacked at Man Utd, the “news bomb” came from Spain: This could send Rashford back to Old Trafford to use the super form he has been working back on loan at Barcelona. It was especially the link with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as the favourite to lead United forward that gave English Rashford fans hope. It wasn’t Solskjaer, nor will there be a Rashford return, it is reported a few hours after Michael Carrick was clapped in as United manager for the rest of the season.
Spanish Sport went so far, earlier this month, as to claim it is now not only possible, but “very likely” that Marcus Rashford will return to Manchester United after his season-long loan spell at Barcelona is over, now that Amorim is gone. Now it is reported that Barcelona are working on that there will be no doubt about which shirt the 28-year-old will wear next season.

According to transfer journalist Nicoló Schira, Barcelona are working on the purchase of Rashford, and that the management is now open to paying the €30 million purchase option. At the same time, it is reported that Barca and Rashford will already agree on the terms of a contract until 2030, which will come into effect if the deal goes through.
Rashford stands after 27 games in the Barca shirt with 7 goals and 11 assists. It is clear that Rashford will use his flair at Camp Nou, not Old Trafford, also next season, regardless of who becomes Man Utd coach this summer.
