Jadon Sancho was brought to Chelsea on loan from Manchester United last summer. A major update on Jadon Sancho’s future has emerged following Chelsea’s victory in the UEFA Conference League final.

On Wednesday night, Chelsea were in action at the Stadion Wrocław when they faced La Liga side Real Betis in the UEFA Conference League final.

The Blues had to fight hard, but managed to turn a 1-0 deficit into a 4-1 victory and thus secured the first trophy of Enzo Maresca’s era.

Sancho, 25, came on as a substitute in the 61st minute and managed to score Chelsea’s third goal in the 83rd minute.

What happens now to Sancho?

Now that the season is over, all focus will be on Sancho’s future. It has been widely reported that Sancho’s loan deal from Manchester United included a £25 million purchase option.

The winger has shown glimpses of his potential since joining Stamford Bridge at the start of the season. In total, he has recorded five goals and ten assists in 41 appearances across all competitions.

But according to The Guardian, Chelsea are probably not interested in signing Sancho on a permanent deal.

As a result, it is claimed that Chelsea will have to pay a fine of five million pounds to send Sancho back to Old Trafford.

The report said, “There are signs that they will choose not to exercise their £25 million option to make Jadon Sancho’s loan from Manchester United a permanent deal.”

“Chelsea will have to pay a fine of five million pounds if Sancho, who came off the bench and scored against Betis, is returned to Old Trafford. Maresca likes the former Borussia Dortmund winger but needs to assess whether the 25-year-old has been consistent enough.”

It has been suggested that players such as Borussia Dortmund’s Jamie Bynoe-Gittens and Athletic Club’s Nico Williams are among the names Chelsea are interested in.

After the game, former Chelsea star Joe Cole urged the club to keep Sancho.

He said, “He’s been rotated in and out, but I want to see Jadon play. You want a player like him in your squad. It will probably depend on a financial decision, but I really like him.”

“This is a boy who went to Dortmund and became a superstar as a youngster. It didn’t work out at Manchester United, but he’s done well and got his career back on track at Chelsea.”

Cole added, “I think there’s more to be gained from him as well.”

After a varied season at Chelsea, it looks like Jadon Sancho could be on his way back to Manchester United. However, with Joe Cole’s support and Sancho’s potential, it is still possible that the club could reconsider.

Will he stay in London, or is his return to United inevitable? The answer may come soon.
