Not many days ago, signals started to come that Rosenborg’s midfield talent Sverre Nypan had made his choice of Premier League club. (The personal must be in place)

Aston Villa, under Spanish manager Unai Emery’s leadership, are considered one of the greats in British football despite budgets significantly smaller than most around them in the table. Sky Sports today brings the news that Aston Villa are in internal discussions to sign the soon-to-be-clubless Kevin de Bruyne, one of the best midfielders of all time.

Aston Villa will be incredibly strong

If that happens, it will be fantastic for 18-year-old Sverre Nypan who can learn and play with one of the greats, who is certainly not ready for retirement football in Saudi Arabia, but who at the age of 33 has a lot to give.

Kevin De Bruyne is in his final season for Manchester City, as the Premier League giant has surprisingly not offered the Belgian a new contract.

Since then, several clubs have been linked with the midfield star, mainly teams from Saudi Arabia and several MLS clubs.

But the 33-year-old does not want to move his family – something that according to Sky Sports will weigh heavily when he makes his future decision. This has put several Premier League clubs on alert.

Now, Sky Sports claim that Aston Villa are holding internal discussions about a potential signing of Kevin De Bruyne in the summer, when his current contract expires and that they are ready to send out feelers very soon. (I guess that’s what this news is)

It is not known how the player himself stands for such a transfer, but the fact that Aston Villa play in Birmingham (only about 1.5 hours from Manchester) and have a chance of Champions League play next season, could be appealing to the Belgian.

During Tuesday’s game, Aston Villa lost 2-1 to Manchester City in an important battle for CL placement. Currently, Villa are in 7th place, but the top five PL teams qualify for the Champions League.

Apart from Villa and MLS clubs, Como in Serie A – where Cesc Fàbregas is currently manager – is also said to be interested.

Kevin de Bruyne’s impressive career at Manchester City

Kevin De Bruyne joined Manchester City in the summer of 2015 and has since scored 107 goals and provided 177 assists in 417 appearances for the club. He has won, among other things:

  • 6 Premier League titles
  • 1 Champions League title

It is said to be manager Unai Emery who is passionate about such a solution.
