Portuguese midfielder Rúben Neves, who is said to be tired of desert football despite huge paychecks, has in recent days been linked with Real Madrid.
Apart from the many defensive injuries they have had to deal with, the other area under constant scrutiny in the Real Madrid midfield. Since the departure of Toni Kroos, later followed by Luka Modrić, the club has struggled to find balance in that part of the pitch.

Last summer, Spanish international Martín Zubimendi was heavily linked as a potential reinforcement, but Arsenal eventually beat Madrid – and other suitors – to the signing.
As the problems in midfield have become more pronounced, talk of possible reinforcements for that position has intensified in recent days. One of the newest names to emerge is Rúben Neves.
The Portuguese midfielder currently plays for Al Hilal, but his contract expires next summer, which explains why Madrid have entered the conversation.

On the matter, former Al Hilal player Sami Al-Jaber stated on MBC: “I am afraid Neves will move from Al Hilal to Real Madrid on a free transfer when his contract with the club expires at the end of this season.”
He also revealed that “there are Premier League clubs interested in signing Neves, but the contracts they are offering are for three years, which means until he turns 31. It’s Real Madrid and I’m sure there are other clubs that want him as well,”
