8-0 victory in the last game. This was the last thing Filipe Luis did as Flamengo coach. No wonder it is reported that the former Chelsea player experienced shock and disbelief when he woke up as a job seeker.

Luis also won the Brazilian Serie A, Copa do Brasil, Supercopa do Brasil, Campeonato Carioca, Fifa Challenger Cup and Fifa Derby of the Americas during his tenure as Flamengo coach. The Brazilian club also reached the last eight of last summer’s FIFA Club World Cup, where they lost 4-2 to Bayern Munich after beating eventual winners Chelsea and topping the group.
Flamengo have started the season with one win, one draw and one loss. The last game as Flamengo coach was against Madureira in the Campeonato Carioca, where tonight’s game ended 8-0 and the double meeting 11-0 on aggregate.

According to O Globo , Luis was told by a total surprise that he had been fired, right after the game’s press conference. There has reportedly been friction between Filipe Luis and the management and slightly weaker results lately, but this will go down in football history as yet another incomprehensible dismissal.
