Andrea Berta has established himself as Arsenal’s sporting director in record time. Now the former Atletico Madrid director will build further. A new striker will be in place, a winger and reinforcements in midfield. Martin Zubimendi is strongly linked to Arsenal, Rosenborg’s Sverre Nypan the same. Last month, the Arsenal scouts sat in the stands to catch another midfielder who is on Berta’s radar.

TBR Football reports Arsenal had scouts in the stands for the Nations League’s two quarter-finals between France and Croatia. This time it was not a Frenchman the Gunners were supposed to observe, but an up-and-coming 22-year-old with Croatia.

Martin Baturina plays in the Croatian league for Dinamo Zagreb, the attacking midfielder gets to show himself on the international stage in the Croatian national team shirt (got 60 and 49 minutes against France), 11 games with 1 goal so far. Together with teammate Petar Sucic, the duo is considered the future of Croatian football. Sucic has agreed with Inter Milan on a transfer after the season, Arsenal are now following Baturina closely towards the summer.

Baturina is seen as a No. 10, with incredible talent. A talent that brings comparisons to Croatia’s great football son, Luka Modric.

According to the English media, Baturina has turned down offers from Real Madrid, but is said to be ready to leave the Croatian league in the summer.
