While Alexander Isak is back on the training ground at Real Sociedad to care for and train his way out of a thigh injury (and stay away from English journalists), there is a fierce tug-of-war going on for last season’s Premier League’s best striker. Liverpool have been working intensively over the past month to negotiate a signing, but two weeks before the start of the season, it looks like the reigning Premier League champions are giving up.
According to the reputable The Athletic, Liverpool have had their latest bid rejected, where the club has sent signals this is not jacked up.

The bid is said to have been between £110 million and £120 million plus bonuses. Newcastle have in parallel hammered out a new contract for Isak, where a clause allows for the possibility of leaving the club for a fixed amount in 2026.
Newcastle have been adamant about demands for £150 million, according to journalist Ben Jacobs, there will be no new bid from Liverpool.
However, this does not solve the situation. According to transfer journalist Romano, Isak insists on a move to Liverpool, and has made this clear to the Newcastle management.
