Former Liverpool midfielder Naby Keita has in many ways torpedoed his own career and, despite overreaction from his club, must take a large part of the blame for his situation. The 29-year-old was suspended by Werder Bremen last season – after choosing not to take part in an away game.
It is close to impossible for Naby Keita to stay at the Weser Stadium, in the summer there were rumours of a move to “anywhere”, but the rumours of being difficult and the Werder Bremen bosses’ lack of interest in facilitating anything caused him to be stranded at the club. Naby Keita, who is under contract until 2026, can probably start playing football matches again soon.

Sky reports that Keita is close to a “surprising transfer” to Hungarian giants Ferencvaros. A move has not yet been completed, but it is said to be underway. The German newspaper Bild also has information that Ferencvaros wants to loan Keita from January.
Bremen boss Clemens Fritz stated earlier this autumn that Keita will not play with the club again. “Anyone who doesn’t get on the Werder bus with his teammates will no longer wear a Werder shirt at the Weserstadion,” he said, according to Deichstube.
Keita has only made five appearances for Bremen since moving to the club in the summer of 2023. He has been left out of the team’s roster this season.
