Intense work is being done to secure a deal for Jack Grealish as part of a fantastic two-player Premier League acquisition.

Jack Grealish could leave Manchester City this summer after falling out of favour.

Jack Grealish is in limbo in his Manchester City career, having been urged by Pep Guardiola to look at other clubs at the end of last season.

Grealish struggled with few minutes in the Premier League last season, struggled with repeated injury problems and watched most of the season from the bench. On the final day of the Premier League season at Fulham, Guardiola left Grealish out of his City squad and then admitted that the England international could leave the Etihad as he needs to play regularly.

The winger then stayed at home when City flew to the United States for the FIFA Club World Cup, and does not appear to be in Guardiola’s first-choice plans for the upcoming season. City signed attacking midfielder Rayan Cherki in June to increase competition in the striker positions, as Guardiola looks to improve on his disappointing season last season.

A big change at City this summer came when the club decided not to renew Kevin De Bruyne’s contract, and the Belgian chose Serie A champions Napoli as his new club. Napoli successfully signed unwanted Premier League players last season, with Scott McTominay and Billy Gilmour playing key roles in the title win.

And they could add Grealish to the growing list, as Gazzetta dello Sport suggest that Napoli have contacted Grealish’s camp before a possible approach. They add that Grealish’s salary could be prohibitive for a deal but could be open to a loan if City cover some of his wages.

The report also mentions Liverpool striker Federico Chiesa as a possible transfer target after his slow first season on Merseyside. Chiesa has been left at home from Liverpool’s pre-season tour due to a minor injury, but Gazzetta says this is a “strong signal” that he is not in Arne Slot’s plans, and Chiesa has been asked to look for a return to his native Italy. They report that Napoli are an option, and the Azzurri are considering making a purchase with room for him in their squad.

Chiesa will be looking to reclaim their place in the Italian national team ahead of the 2026 World Cup, although they face a challenge to qualify as they are currently third in the qualifying group behind Norway and Israel, albeit having only played two games so far.
